Karen Logan karen@karenloganart.ca
Artist Bio:A mother and grandmother, I was born and raised in Hamilton and has been interested in art my whole life. Taking private drawing lessons as a child, specializing in art studies throughout high school and receiving three honours certificates in fine arts from Mohawk College has helped keep art a central component of my life. As a lifelong learner I am always looking for new techniques and enjoy the opportunity to try all forms of media. I have worked in pencil, ink, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, encaustic, acrylic, and most recently Chinese Brush Painting as well as ceramics and silver smithing. Originally a mechanical draftsperson and technical illustrator, I recently retired from my part time job with two not-for-profit, industrial environmental organizations to focus on my art full time in my studio at the Cotton Factory. I most enjoy painting botanicals, birds and animals in fine detail and show my work at McMaster Innovation Park, juried shows and exhibitions.

Artist Bio:I see the beauty and value in everyone regardless of physical or intellectual differences. It's these differences that make us unique and bind us together. I hope to capture and connect with authentic, unique people and to create interesting dynamic portraits.
I have been creating portraits for the last 20 years starting with daughters, my family and friends. I've worked in pencil, pen & ink, watercolours, oil and most often acrylics. I've also recently started creating digital art on Procreate. My work has been collected by both private parties and public institutions. This includes the Niagara Falls Art Gallery where work of mine honouring one of my favourite artists, William Kurelek, resides alongside their Kurelek Collection.
Aside from portraits I've also worked on children's books, comics, greeting cards and t-shirts and often exhibit locally within the Niagara Region.

Patti Harris patti@pattiharris.com
Artist Bio:I am inspired by industrial design, natural materials and vintage objects. Putting a variety of materials together, in old boxes, in frames, in and on foundry patterns and old wood typifies much of my work. Whether creating a collage or assemblage, I generally use these old parts that have stood the test of time.
I apply materials somewhat ambiguous in meaning, but arranged in a well-designed manner. For me, it is all about the visual impact. The objects I choose often don’t routinely ‘go together;’ the resulting work necessitates thought on the viewer’s part. Because I use many recycled materials, all of my pieces are original, never to be duplicated. I like to use a variety of mediums to create something a bit more unusual so that I can bring a different twist to something that may otherwise be considered ordinary.
My art clearly may mean one thing to one person and possibly something different to another. Each of us has a unique set of experiences that inhabit our perceptions and cause us to react one way or another to what we see. My goal is that my art will strike at that perception and will appeal to many.

Artist Bios:
Chris LouisI am a self taught visual artist of Haitian descent from Canada, working in several different mediums (oil, oil pastels, acrylic, spray paint, charcoal & digital). I started painting in late 2020 which was around the time I started my branding/marketing company, Krank Media House Inc. My passion for conceptualization, my need to be expressive, and the other creatives in my circle lead me to the canvas. My work consists of primitive neo-expressionism. Paint is applied with a painter's spatula, and scratched off to reveal the layers beneath. I try to refrain from using paint brushes in order to keep a tactile element to my work. Utilization of pastels & charcoal also allow me to embody these primitive elements. Texture is always a vital component alongside repetition, surprise, movement & counter movement. I draw inspiration from artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Wassily Kandinsky, Gerhard Richter, Dominic Besner, Adebayo Bolaji & Keith Haring. They have all played an instrumental role in my color palettes, technique and overall compositions.

I am a self-taught visual artist from Canada working in a variety of different mediums (oil, acrylic, pastel, spray paint and digital). I have a BA in English Literature and a MA in Theory and Criticism. After becoming disenchanted with academia, I leapt into the world of digital marketing and graphic design. I could no longer, contra Deleuze, be “a friend of the concept.” This is not to say that concepts do not possess a vitality of their own or aren’t worthy of friendship. But I wanted abstractions to ride skateboards, to simulate life in a new way. I wanted my psyche to learn how to ollie again.

Heather Brown artworkbyhlb@gmail.com
Artist Bio:Heather Brown is a late bloomer to the art scene, having started her painting journey in her sixties. Her favourite mediums to work in are watercolours, graphite and charcoal sketches.
Heather's watercolour paintings are done in a distinctive loose style with many bright colours while her sketches have a signature touch of coloured pastel to make them “pop.” She enjoys painting and sketching animals (both domestic and wild), portraits, rustic barns, old trucks, lighthouses and anything that simply catches her eye. She usually starts her paintings based on photographs.
A lifelong Niagara resident, Heather has shown and sold her work through the Visual Artists of Welland. Her work is currently on display at the Welland Museum and O's on the Water in Port Colborne. Heather's philosophy on being an artist is simply put:
“Making art is a lifelong learning experience and I consider myself to be a forever student.”

Tina Muller tmuller@cogeco.ca
Artist Bio:I was fortunate to have spent my youth growing up in New Zealand where my family moved to when I was about eight years old. My best friend happened to like drawing and so our weekends were spent drawing and she would teach me what she knew.
My first lessons in oil painting were actually from my mother and it came at a time in my life when I found enjoyment and comfort from these lessons. With some encouragement I entered a contest of one of my landscape paintings and won first prize. The following year I took lessons from Rodger Whitmer in St. Jacobs, Ontario.
I always dabbled in art in one form or another but was mostly busy raising my family. Last year I started painting again however with acrylics which I like equally to oil paints. I have always been drawn to painting landscapes and nature. Perhaps growing up in New Zealand left me with a fondness for this subject matter.

Jennifer Penner jenniferemily@hotmail.ca
Artist Bio:I am a long time resident in the Niagara region. Raised in Pelham, I now reside in Niagara on the Lake with my husband and two wonderful dogs. I am self taught mainly, with some training as a teenager by a local artist and my education is in Graphic Design which contributes to my paintings telling a story. In my late 30's I was living in Elora, and participated in many outdoor juried shows where I often won the people's choice award. I am honoured that my gift is enjoyed by many.
My Metamorphosis Collection was made with love for our Niagara grape region (Winner of the Pumphouse and N.O.T.L. hydro-box beautification project). As a child, I have fond memories of playing with my siblings in Welch's Juice vineyards that surrounded our home. As play areas were limited, we used the foliage as our playground for hiding in or between the vines. It is these childhood memories that influenced the series.
Artist Statement:
Over the years my painting and drawing have developed from an interest into a passion. I wanted to experiment working in a larger scale while still trying to capture detail, character and delicacy. I now allow the subject to dictate which I use, sometimes the vibrancy of a flower means only colour will reflect its personality and spirit, and sometimes the contrast of light and shade are such a fundamental part of the symmetry of the image that this observation of beautiful forms has to be examined in full.

Daniel Abadie contact the artist
Artist Bio:I am in constant admiration of the beauty in nature. It is not a surprise that I gravitate toward such beauty when I sit in front of my blank canvas. Since coming to Canada, I have been compelled to depict Ontario's forests, fields and gardens. These are the rich sources that transform the blank canvas into fulsome compositions. My medium is oil on canvas and the technique of choice is pointillism, where each small brushstroke made is deliberate and creates the architecture of the painting. Although I choose to work with a vibrant palette, my paintings maintain a dreamlike quality to view nature in its perfection.

Artist Bio:Photography is one of those technological miracles, that has become second nature to us, and we take for granted. How amazing is it that we can absolutely freeze a magical moment? As a visual artist it is mesmerizing and often humbling, as we try for a perfect photo. Or even worse, it makes us feel that we can end our quest, because we will never capture a photo as good as the last one. It defeats us, when we miss a shot by a fraction of a second, and we can only visualize an uncaptured scene, in our minds eye, never to be shared with another person. With cell phones, it is a part of everyday life and becomes electrifying when it grants us those rare moments, when not only do we see a subject, but are empowered to hold and maybe treasure that fleeting moment in time, forever.
I always look for scenes that are different from what you might normally see. This collection includes some unique photographic art that includes thought provoking pieces: what it looks like to have a Prairie Fire advancing towards you, artifacts of abandoned human existence, and the strength of colours in Seeing Red and Golden Tree. Previously exhibited have been: a fire breathing horse, a floating water polo team, the mystery of a disappearing railway car, and an answer to the question of whether “the grass is greener on the other side of the fence”.
