VISITORS FAQ

Where are you located?
We are located at 8058 Oakwood Drive in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

How close are you to the Falls?
About 12 mins by car. You can head East on McLeod road and continue until it becomes Portage Rd. Continue driving until you reach Upper Rapids Blvd and make a Left. Seasonally there are transportation services available at this corner or you can continue to drive to where the road meets (ends at) the Niagara Parkway. Turn Left again to take a scenic drive past the falls.
How close are you to Shopping or somewhere to Eat?
Shopping:
About 2 minutes away near the corner of McLeod and Oakwood there is a Walmart Plaza and shopping Outlet. Directly accross the highway from us you will also find the Niagara Square, Costco and Lowes among other stores.
Restaurants:
About 2mins away near the corner of McLeod and Oakwood there the Walmart Plaza hosts a Subway. Other fast food restaurants can be found within about 5-10 mins along McLeod road such as McDonald's, Harveys, Wendy's, Tim Horton's, and a Starbucks. Otherwise, Lundy's Lane is about 10 mins away and hosts multiple eating experiences from Fast Food to Sit Down Restaurants.

What sections of the gallery is accessibile?

The gallery is accessible on two levels for program participants however the gallery exhibition spaces currently are not.
What is expected of me as a visitor to the gallery?

The Niagara Falls Art Gallery is a professional art gallery and adheres to the standard practices and procedures upheld both nationally and internationally by most major art galleries. Visitor Guidelines upheld by the gallery can be found here.

Can I take photographs at/inside the gallery?

Unfortunately, photography is not allowed at or within the Niagara Falls Art Gallery. Violation is an infringment of copyright and prosecutable by law. Please also view the Visitor Guidelines upheld by the gallery which can be found here.

Do you have more artwork than is on display?
Yes!
The Niagara Falls Art Gallery houses three major collections:

Selections from each of the collections are rotatively displayed in our three exhibition galleries throughout the year and are often accompanied by curated exhibitions of artwork outside of these collections.
Who are some of the artists featured in your collections?

The Niagara Falls Art Gallery's collections feature a wide variety of artists of both national and international acclaim. Distinguished Canadian artists such as William Kurelek, Tony Urquhart, Graham Coughtrey, Michael Snow, John MacGregor, and Greg Curnoe can also be seen alongside notable European artists such are Julius Voros, Mykolya Krycevsky and Andriy Solohub among others.More information on our collections can be found here.
Who is William Kurelek?

William Kurelek (1927 - 1977) was an artist of Canadian Ukrainian decent that has become known for his nostalgic, illustrative and didactic paintings. Examining life growing up on the prairies, Kurelek provided stories and illustrations for the books "A Prairie Boys Summer" and "A Prairie Boys Winter" as well as numerous paintings that further examined his life as a child in western Canada.

Do you display work from local artists?
Yes!
Both our Focus & Community galleries host exhibtions highlighting the arts in Niagara by featuring exhibitions showcasing our local and extended communities either accompanied by works from the collections or each other.
The Niagara Falls Art Gallery has an ongoing schedule which incorporates these gallery curated exhibtions into the calendar in company with those that are on permanent display.
Can I submit my work for consideration?

What services are offered by the gallery?

The Niagara Falls Art Gallery is arguably the most diverse visual arts institution in the Niagara Region. It provides Niagara with an important cultural resource through a unique mixture of both Arts Exhibition and Arts Education services available to community residents and tourists alike. Where do you offer services?

The Niagara Falls Art Gallery has 3 locations in Niagara. Our main location is in Niagara Falls with our partner organizations overseeing our satelite operations in St. Catharines (Niagara Children's Museum) and Welland (Art Gallery Of Welland). To find out more, visit here.

Can my school make a workshop reservation with you?
YES!
Although we mainly provide in-person services throughout Southern Ontario, our Virtual Workshops offer a wide range of opportunities to communities and schools usually too far for us to travel. Registration Forms

Payments for programs such as art classes & camps can be made online here, by phone at 905.356.1514. In person payments can be made at the Oakwood Drive, Niagara Falls location only. Accepted methods are debit*, credit* and cash (*preferred). All funds recieved by the Niagara Falls Art Gallery are non-refundable.

What is your refund policy?
All funds recieved by the Niagara Falls Art Gallery are non-refundable.
At the sole discretion of the Niagara Falls Art Gallery, equivalent proportionally valued credit may be offered in some circumstances in the form of Art Bucks.
If issued, ALL Art Bucks must be gathered from the gallery within 2 weeks of issue or are, without exception, considered abandoned, become null and void, and are not eligible for reissue. No credits are held indefinitely by the Gallery and are subject to discontinuation at anytime at the Gallery's sole discretion.
What are Art Bucks?
Art Bucks are the Niagara Falls Art Gallery's issued and only accepted form of credit coupon. They are available in multiple denominations and can be purchased as a gift or issued by the Gallery as a credit in certain circumstances.

Art Bucks Facts*:
  • Non-replaceable and for single usage only
  • Available in multiple denominations (please enquire)
  • Redeemable on most services or items available through the Niagara Falls Art Gallery
  • Redemption values do not exceed the displayed amount on coupon
  • Can be combined together
  • Can not be combined with other offers
  • Original coupon must be presented prior to payment to be valid
  • NO reproductions accepted
  • NOT redeemable for cash
  • Currently Art Bucks do not expire once collected*
  • Art Bucks must be collected within 2 weeks of issue/purchased otherwise they will be considered discarded, become defunct and unavailable for reissue without exception. Purchased Art Bucks may, within the 2 week period, arrange alternate pickup arrangements with the Gallery at the Gallery's sole discretion.

  • *The Art Bucks program may change or end without notice including but not limited to changes to usage and redemption. Art Bucks are subject to the stipulations outlined on the coupon and within the Niagara Falls Art Gallery's policies. All changes are at the sole disrection of the Niagara Falls Art Gallery.
    What happens if I lose my Art Bucks?
    Although Art Bucks are officially marked, they are not tracked and are a non-replaceable coupon. Therefore, without exception, Art Bucks cannot be reissued for further collection.
    Can I buy a gift certificate?
    The Niagara Falls Art Gallery offers ART BUCKS which can be purchased in any denomination of $5 and make great gifts! They can be used towards any of our programs or items for sale. Our SHOP page also offers a downloadable cerificate page that can be printed out to accompany your Art Bucks!
